Chuck,
TeamGreenDragon recently came across a very badly damaged box the
"Blue Hills" LB in Milton MA (Logbook soaked,Box badly damaged,
Stamp missing) would it be appropriate for us to replace this box?
I have had no luck contacting the original hiders. And we would be
happy to help in any way we can.Is this what you mean by "Adopted
abandoned box"?

Yes, you seem to have the same situation that I had. I did wait about 6 months before fixing it up and another 7 months before posting it. I would say after a 6 month wait and keep trying to find the owner is enough. Use the original stamp if it is still useable. Adopting a box is basically just doing a good deed. You fix it up and maintain it but if the original owner shows up it is his.You cannot count it as a plant but you can claim it as a find and you have done a good deed and help letterboxing. You must assume that someday, the owner will eventually show up to see "whatever happened to that box I planted a couple years ago." Good luck and Happy Letterboxing.....Chuck and Molly
